A two-day workshop by EWA and MBB under the REEValue project provided Maltese agrifood and logistics companies with training on improving efficiency through value chain collaboration. Featuring international experts, case studies, and funding support, the event highlighted sustainable cost-saving opportunities for local businesses.
The Energy and Water Agency (EWA) and the Malta Business Bureau (MBB) recently launched their first joint workshop under the REEValue project, titled “Unlocking Sustainable Cost-Saving Solutions.” Over two days, international experts delivered training tailored for agrifood manufacturing and logistics companies in Malta. The competitiveness of these sectors hinges on enhanced coordination and efficiency across value chains, a core focus of the LIFE-funded REEValue project, which began earlier this year and runs until 2026.
The workshop emphasized the advantages of value chain collaborations, showcasing how businesses can unlock opportunities otherwise unavailable when working in isolation. Any company operating within the relevant sectors is encouraged to participate in the project and take advantage of the consultancy services offered by the consortium, fully funded by the EU.
The event featured presentations from the University of Brescia and Irish logistics consultancy AEMS, alongside contributions from Sammontana, a leading Italian ice cream manufacturer, and one of their suppliers, EPTA. Sammontana and EPTA shared insights into how their collaboration has driven efficiency gains, providing a compelling case study for local ice cream and food manufacturers attending the workshop. All speakers, with the exception of EPTA, are part of the REEValue consortium, offering ongoing support to Maltese businesses until the project concludes.
Additionally, MBB Senior Projects Executive Timothy Alden outlined funding instruments available to local businesses. As part of the REEValue initiative, MBB is assisting companies in applying for these grants, further enhancing their potential for growth and sustainability.
